Meris Clinical Research is a privately owned and operated research organization initially founded in 2010 by Dr. Rafael Martinez and Dr. Dragos Zanchi as the research arm of their clinical practice, Pulmonary and Sleep of Tampa Bay. As the practice grew, so did the volume and complexity of studies necessitating the evolution to an independent research arm now known as Meris Clinical Research. Meris manages three sites in the Tampa Bay area (Tampa, Brandon, and Wesley Chapel) offering convenient access to potential subjects across the region.
Our research facilities are well equipped to optimize the subject’s experience and comfort as well as that of our monitors and sponsors. In addition to the standard amenities expected from a clinical site, each Meris site is equipped with a fully staffed sleep lab and extended stay quarters perfect for trials requiring prolonged subject monitoring or formal sleep studies. Each location is embedded in clinic practices that are accredited by the Joint Commission which underscores our devotion to maintaining the highest national standards for safety and quality of care. Furthermore, we are the only ambulatory clinical trial sites with this designation in the Tampa Bay area.
At Meris, our experienced research team is comprised of ACRP Certified Principal Investigators and Certified Clinical Research Coordinators dedicated to conducting clinical research studies with the utmost accuracy and efficiency while ensuring subject safety. Our investigators are board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, Sleep Medicine, and Nutrition. Meris has an excellent reputation for providing quality data and consistently meeting and or exceeding recruitment goals for national and international trials. We specialize in conducting phase II‐IV clinical trials of all types including but not limited to: COPD, asthma, infectious disease, cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, nutrition, and thrombosis. Our Staff of Board Certified Physicians and Research coordinators make sure that subjects are monitored with Physical Exam, labs, Lung Function tests, and other pertinent testing according to the study protocol.
